@areefuhstanklin You can have wireless cards on desktops too though... if they are not close to a router for plugin.

so after replacing and re-wiring all the ethernet ports in the house, I discover the fault is actually a dead port on my router.

The router I bought in Atlanta last year to use while we were adopting @samuel_turner is now installed in my parents' abode. Wifi FTW!

@amcrae well, no cats at all. we do WiFi though (recently went to a 802.11n router). so a mix of wired/wireless depending on the device.

Glad I called. Verizon upped me from 1.5mbs to 7mbs. New router in the mail. Sorry, @robodc. No cable in our house anytime soon.

@BTCare It's inconsistent, it's nowhere near as fast as advertised & we're resetting the router on a daily basis atm to get it to work
