Here’s a little
story about a few
reasons as to why
you should not waste
your time with an
online course(s)
with any school,
particularly
University of
Phoenix.
I attended
University of
Phoenix online AXIA
program to attain a
degree in Business
Marketing.
Everything was going
well enough as it
could for the
situation I was put
in. I was having
problems with
individuals I was
living with and so I
had no other choice
than to make the
best of it not
always having that
of a computer around
because my living
conditions had
changed. Mind you I
had missed a few
assignments during
the first nine weeks
of attendance.
Though these matters
were discussed with
the enrolment
councilor, guidance
councilor, and my
financial aid
advisor. So within
response, everyone
was notified of my
situation and those
of the conditions
that may happen to
get in my way of
completion. They
were lenient to set
me back up with the
same two classes I
had initially taken,
one of which I was
dropped for reasons
of participation
points which are not
a requirement in
that of their on
campus classes.
This had not become
a problem until the
second time around,
repeating these same
two classes. I was
given two separate
instructors, of
course, and their
criteria set for
those of the
students was
opposing to that of
the first two
instructors. For
example:
Participation points
consist of posting
what they call
threads. These are
initiative messages
and responses typed
to those of other
classmates to whom
are not always
located within one
individuals local
area. These other
classmates do not
have the same time
zones either. Thus
it is never certain
that anyone will
answer to your
initial response to
particular
discussions that are
assigned in an
online class. Nor
is it certain that
these students you
have posted to will
continue the posting
of discussion(s) so
that one student may
attain a grade
necessary to that of
the set criteria of
the teacher(s).
I had fallen victim
to this little
scandal. Upon
realizing that my
grade was so low
because
participation points
are a greater part
of your grade that
is acquired, I had
decided to end it
all and even
considered
transferring to the
on campus classes.
Even leaving that of
a message with my
enrollment
councilor, who was
taking an FBI
course, who had
failed to realize
the tone in my voice
meant that of some
importance. Who
wants to leave a
complete informant
on someone’s
answering machine,
right? Now, this
phone call was made
after the fact of
speaking to my
financial aid
advisor and my
guidance councilor.
I had not received
any word nor call
from my enrolment
councilor, not for
two weeks. Even
after it was
explained to me that
if I ended up
missing that
particular week of
attendance, that at
the end of that week
I would be held
accountable for the
financial aid as was
stated in the signed
statute. I feel as
though I was
wrongfully
mistreated, and that
they purposely
restrained
themselves from
resolving the
issue(s) at hand to
attain that of the
finances that were
being provided by my
personal Social
Security Number.
Now I am going to be
held accountable for
the tender that was
gathered by this
school because of
their negligence to
be professional and
on top of things.
Head warning to this
letter for it is of
great importance to
all who would like
to attend any form
of college. If you
want to attend
school, make sure
you have a job to
support the
materials in which
you are going to
need for the
knowledge you would
like to attain.
Especially an online
course, who knows
exactly how they run
things… in my own
opinion, I believe
its all set up
electronically.
This of course
meaning that there
are no teachers
teaching these
courses, they are
pre-registered
responses to the
outcome of every
algorithm that is
defined within the
work (assignments)
completed. Than
again, that’s how
I feel about it!
