Hello, everyone. The latest at PlanetThoughts.org ? If you have not gone there recently, in addition to the insightful blog entries (I am not commenting about mine - who am I to speak about my own writing?) continue, and the serious news stories and quotes on global environment. In addition, there is a real-time oil price display now (it was interesting watching the drop from 144 to 134 USD/barrel yesterday). There are also slides shows and video from Patrick Murphy, a leading sustainability proponent, and from my recent talk at the Sustainability Conference in Michigan. Recently the site has featured a lot about various energy sources, such as nuclear, and the overall energy situation now and in the next 40 years. There are also reports from NOAA and EPA (the USA agencies), from Dr. James Hansen, and from Kunstler of "The Long Emergency" fame. I try to keep it all interesting! I am glad to announce that Patrick Murphy, author of Plan C: Community Survival Strategies for Peak Oil and Climate Change , has been generous enough to offer the video of his four-part Michigan Sustainability Conference presentation, and his slides, for your viewing. They can all be found, along with just a bit of my commentary, here . On another front, the Super-Cars Shout Out Competition has re-launched. I want to point out that the goal is not to encourage buying more cars, and that there is language on the fliers stating that the best bet is walking, cycling, or mass transit (or stay home!) However, the positive fliers and the communication, if handled well with the car owners, provides opportunities to share thinking and to recognize that people are at least trying by purchasing an efficient car. And last, but not least, there is US $500 waiting for someone who gets enough car pictures up to our Web site. This re-launch runs to September 30th, and is absolutely the final end date for this long (VERY long) running competition. Let's just say it has been a learning experience.... I did not know it would be hard to give away $500. I hope you enjoy the other Web site articles, and their carefully selected videos. Any feedback is welcome. The bug with Safari is fixed - please let me know if you see any errors in display or behavior, under any environment (other than at 2am EST, since the server gets rebooted nightly at that hour).
