A Poem

The recipe

Take some salmon filets,

olive oil,

and pepper heavily,

with a sprig of rosemary

broil ten minutes to each side,

Then rub raw garlic in a bowl,

tossing the hearts of Romaine lettuce

mixed with oil and red wine vinegar,

Grate some sharp cheddar and Parmesan

Over the top,

with strawberries on the side.

I use,

two or three,

Now with more garlic and oil,

broil the bread till brown,

light a candle,

with almost any wine,

I prefer red,

a couple of years in the making,

flowers cut from the yard,

doesn't matter what type,

some music,

R& B, opera, blues, rock,

not too loud,

that you would notice,

and arrange what you have on a table,

Greet her as she comes home

tired from work,

place your hands around her head,

like you are holding something tender,

and kiss the top of her crown.

Then count to yourself--

one,

two,

three,
