Welcome to the California Genealogical Society and Library blog - a Web log for and about the society, its members, programs and events.

My name is Kathryn Doyle and I am a CGS board member and chair of the Marketing Committee. I've been addicted to genealogy since I started seriously researching my family in 1999 (citing sources, visiting courthouses and archives, etc.) Before that I was just nosy and annoying. Now I'm nosy, boring and annoying.

I am a great believer in genealogical society membership. I belong to three county societies in Pennsylvania where by forebears lived (Blair, Indiana and Huntingdon) in addition to CGS, which is my local society here in Oakland, California and to the National Genealogical Society (NGS).
