My son was difficult when he was two. When he was six he was out of control. And when he was eight, he was considered "at risk." I went to the ends of the earth to find someone to help me help my son, but no one seemed to know how to stop his arguing and blaming, his lying and stealing. I was desperate. By grace or good fortune, I was led to an international parenting expert and therapist that had raised 36 children with severe ADHD. She explained that my son also had ODD - oppositional defiant disorder. (65% of children with ADHD develop it.) She patiently explained that I was doing normal things every day that were making my son's behavior worse. She taught me how to start doing things instead to improve my son's behavior. After I had used her methods for only 21 days, my son's behavior was 70% better. Now my son is 17, almost has his eagle badge in Boy Scouts, and is making B's in school. I want to help other parents struggling now as we were then.
