I've played and taught guitar for nearly 30 years. I'm lucky enough to have a handmade custom guitar. A Northworthy Ellastone Special made by Alan Marshall. It has a sitka spruce top and brazilian rosewood back and sides. When I specified it I asked for a wider than normal neck, with wider string spacing. It is perfect for fingerstyle playing, which is my favorite style.
